Book This Service →Wood rot is caused by fungus that grows when wood stays wet. North Carolina's humidity, heavy rain, and shade make it common here, especially where water collects: behind clogged gutters, on window sills, at the bottom of door frames, and where trim meets the roof.
Signs to look for: peeling or bubbling paint, wood that feels soft or spongy, cracks, dark stains, or small holes. Rot usually looks smaller on the surface than it is underneath, and it keeps spreading until the wet wood is removed.
We remove all of the damaged wood, replace it, then prime and paint it to seal it. Fixing the water source matters too, which is why we also do gutter cleaning and caulking.
